$45.2m rated Brazilian could become Chelsea’s first summer signing

Chelsea are facing a two-window ban as a result of breaching regulations surrounding signing young players, but remain hopeful that their punishment will be delayed by at least six months following an appeal.

The Blues are reportedly considering a £34.7 million ($45.2m) offer for 21-year-old Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, claims the Mail.

Guimaraes has put in a number of impressive displays for Athletico Paranaense this season and the Blues see him as a player they can develop to suit Premier League football.

He regularly operates as a defensive midfielder but, after breaking through into the first team last season, has caught the eye with his playmaking and his ability to dictate the tempo of a game.

Guimaraes, who plays at the base of Paranaense’s midfielder, was also observed by Shakhtar Donetsk’s chief scout at the Arena da Baixada. Napoli, AC Milan and Lille are also keen on Guimaraes and Inter Milan had a bid turned down for the Brazilian earlier this year.
