Abramovich ‘wants to win’ and has started process of new Chelsea manager

When Frank Lampard joined Chelsea as a manager no one expected him to finish in the top four. The club was under a transfer ban and they had lost Eden Hazard to Real Madrid. Frank Lampard himself was only in his second year of management.

He gave chances to young players like Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Recce James, etc. At times the Blues also played attacking expansive football as well. Thus there was a lot of excitement for Chelsea fans going into the next season.

Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner were confirmed signings and a few others were expected to follow. Roman Abramovich was very graciously as Chelsea spent over $200 million in the transfer market. The likes of Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, Edu Mendy also joined the club.

Despite the big-spending, there are still some issues that are yet to be resolved by Lampard. Chelsea’s defensive woes are a big problem and this season they have only won two games out of five. Thus Frank Lampard is under pressure to deliver.

ROMAN ABRAMOVICH WON’T LET SENTIMENTS STOP HIM FROM SACKING LAMPARD

According to reports, the Chelsea owner won’t hesitate to sack Lampard if results don’t improve. Since his takeover in 2003, Abramovich has been ruthless when it comes to sacking managers. The Russian wants to win and his sentiments won’t stop him from sacking Lampard.

There was a sense that Abramovich might go easy to Lampard. The Englishman is a club legend and only in the third year of management. However, Abramovich looks in no mood to treat Lampard differently from his predecessors.

The same report also states that in case he sacks Lampard, he will appoint Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian in his previous Juventus job won five Serie A titles and four Coppa Italia. He also reached the Champions League final twice.

Allegri is currently a free agent and he is yet to join any club since leaving Juventus. However, his style of play is more defensive compared to Lampard’s attacking style of play.
