After missing out on Cavani and Mertens in January, Lampard identify two strikers Chelsea should sign in the summer

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard was keen on signing a striker during the January transfer window but was left irritated after the club’s failure to sign any striker.

Chelsea’s failure to sign a striker in January meant Olivier Giroud remained at the club despite pushing for an exit in January.

Napoli’s Dries Mertens and Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani were considered on short-term deals during the January transfer window but the Blues won’t make a move for them in the summer.

According to Standard Sport, Lyon’s Moussa Dembele is Lampard’s key target ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 23 year old striker has been scouted multiple times by Chelsea and it is believed he would make a seamless transition to English football.

RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner is also an option for Lampard after scoring 20 goals in the Bundesliga this season.

The German international recently admitted he was open to joining a Premier League club during the summer.
