Almost Done: Maurizio Sarri’s set to leave Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri’s agent will fly to London in the coming hours to try and negotiate his exit from Stamford Bridge, with the Italian reportedly keen to be allowed to join Juventus.

The 60-year-old won the first trophy of his career on Wednesday night as Chelsea secured a 4-1 victory over Arsenal in the Europa League final, although thoughts have already turned to his future.

Despite a very strong first season, fans have not taken to ‘Sarri-ball’ while Juve have made the former Napoli boss their top choice to replace Massimiliano Allegri.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the coming hours and days will quickly decide Sarri’s future, with his agent, Fali Ramadani, flying from Milan to London to speak to Chelsea’s board.

His preference is to be allowed to join Juventus and Ramadani has been tasked with finding an agreement that suits all parties.

A few weeks ago that would have been easy, with Chelsea having reservations about their future under Sarri and already think about replacing him with Frank Lampard, but the side’s Europa League success has given cause to reconsider that stance.

The Blues could also demand a bigger compensation fee to let Sarri leave now, despite having been considering sacking him not so long ago.
