Almost done: Timo Werner to complete Chelsea move after been removed from Leipzig’s Champions League squad

Julian Nagelsmann’s team have already qualified for the quarterfinal after defeating Tottenham 4-0 on aggregate, with Werner scoring the only goal in the first game at White Hart Lane.

Meanwhile, According to top German source BILD, Timo Werner’s move from RB Leipzig to Chelsea is as good as done, as the forward has been removed from the Bundesliga’s side Champions League squad.

However, it looks like Leipzig will have to go on without their main goalscorer in the further rounds, if BILD’s report is correct. This seems to confirm the earlier reports claiming that Chelsea and Leipzig are putting final touches on the deal between the clubs.

Of course, this does not mean that Werner would be able to help Chelsea in the Round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich, as the registration period for the competition is already over.

It’s understood that the German forward has a deal agreed in principle with the West London club. The Blues have also agreed to trigger the £53m release clause in Werner’s contract with the Bundesliga side.

The 24-year-old is expected to sign a 5-year contract with the Blues and is set to earn more than €10m-a-year.
