Blues on alert as 134 goal Serie A striker weighs up free transfer exit

According to reports in the Italian media, Chelsea are one of six clubs keeping tabs on Torino captain Andrea Belotti’s contract situation.

The 27-year-old will have one year remaining on his current deal in June, and he is contemplating not signing an extension and leaving the Serie A side in 2023.

AC Milan are said to be the team most willing to snap up Belotti on a free transfer but it is thought that other clubs, including Chelsea, may opt to make a bid this summer for a knockdown price.

Everton, Napoli, Roma and Atletico Madrid are believed to be in the same boat, and they are waiting to see whether Torino’s president Urbano Cairo decides to sell up now, rather than allowing the player to leave for nothing.

Belotti has scored 134 goals in his senior career, averaging a goal every 2.4 matches, and he could be seen by Chelsea as a cheaper alternative to Erling Haaland if manager Thomas Tuchel wants to bring in a traditional number nine.
