BREAKING: Chelsea set to sign the next Romelu Lukaku

Chelsea signed a then 18-year-old Romelu Lukaku from Anderlecht in 2011 for a fee reported to be around €12 million (£10 million), rising to €20 million (£17 million) in add-ons.

Lukaku was highly rated but ended up never making it big at Chelsea, but he excelled on loan at West Brom and Everton, before going on to perform well with Manchester United and currently Inter Milan.

According to reports, Chelsea are now competing with Atletico Madrid to sign Stoke City forward Mohamed Sankoh, who has been likened to Romelu Lukaku.

The youngster has physical attributes and prolific strike-rate which have prompted comparisons to former Chelsea forward Lukaku.

Goal have reported that both Chelsea and Atletico have had talks with the 16-year-old, who won the European Under-17 Championship with the Netherlands in 2019 alongside Chelsea’s Ian Maatsen.

The Dutch youngster has scored nine goals and made nine assists for the Potters at Under-18 level this season and is being touted as the hottest property in the Stoke City’s academy.
