BREAKING: FA Cup final date set as Chelsea and Arsenal prepare return to action

The Football Association have penciled in a new date for the FA Cup final as Premier League sides prepare to return to action.

All professional football in England is currently suspended indefinitely due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But over the past weeks, Premier League officials have been discussing a plan named Project Restart that aims to restart the season. And as part of the restart plan, dates for FA Cup ties have been included in the schedule.

As a result of more from the plan emerging, the Daily Mail is reporting that both August 5 and August 8 have been decided as potential dates the final can take place at Wembley.

However, the final, for the first time ever, is expected to be played behind closed doors just like the Premier League is planning to do.

The competition is currently at the quarter-final stage, with Leicester due to face Chelsea, Newcastle talking on Manchester City, Arsenal heading to Sheffield United and Norwich welcoming Manchester United.

“Clubs involved are close to reaching a major Final and for those clubs and supporters we will do all we can to keep the Wembley dream alive,” a FA statement from the FA on cup competitions being played to a finish this season read back in March.
