Chelsea £150,000-a-week forward on the verge of January exit

Sevilla have held talks with Alvaro Morata’s agent to discuss a potential move for the Chelsea striker, who is unhappy and chose not to celebrate either of his goals in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

Maurizio Sarri is willing to sign a new striker in January and wants Gonzalo Higuain to make a move to Stamford Bridge in a deal that would see Alvaro Morata join AC Milan on loan.

But the Spain international is keen to return to La Liga and AS reports that Sevilla have made a move to sign him.

The report adds that on Monday, the Spanish club’s director of football Joaquin Caparros met with Alvaro Morata’s agent Juanma Lopez to discuss a potential deal.

Alvaro Morata is also understood to be unhappy with the public criticism he received from Gianfranco Zola last week. ‘It should be a motivational thing,’ he said before the win over Nottingham Forest.

‘You are at Chelsea, you are not playing for Southampton or Brighton with all due respect to those clubs.

‘People expect a lot from the number nine at Chelsea. They expect a lot of goals and good performances. This is normal, he has to get used to it.’
