Chelsea can reportedly sign Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti for just £44 million ahead of the next transfer window.
According to Italian journalist Nicolo Schira, Barcelona are looking to offload the France international for just £44 million this summer.
Umtiti’s Barcelona contract has a release clause of £443 million but Barcelona understand they can’t receive that amount for their French centre-back due to the economic situation of most clubs in Europe as a result of coronavirus and also because Umtiti’s value has reduced due to lack of playing time.
Umtiti has had a season blighted by injuries which has limited him to 11 league appearances.
Chelsea have reportedly been in contact with the player’s agent, Arturo Canales, to sound out a move. The 26-year-old was part of France’s World Cup winning team in 2018 and London rivals Arsenal are also believed to be interested in signing him.
