Chelsea confirm interest in French defender as Frank Lampard ramps up his transfer plans

Chelsea have been linked with a move for fast rising Strasbourg defender Simakan who has continue to attract interest from top clubs with his impressive performance.

Frank Lampard was the highest spender during last summer transfer window but that has not stopped the club from being linked with some young players across Europe.

Simakan impressive performance this season has seen him play all matches for Strasbourg and this has not gone unnoticed in Stamford Bridge.

According to Le 10 Sport, Simakan is willing to leave the club in January if a suitable offer comes in and Chelsea are eager to add him to their youthful squad.

French Ligue 1 side Nice are also interested in the 20-year-old but Chelsea have the edge as Simakan will be eager to make a mark in one of the greatest club in Europe.

The 20-year-old who will cost Chelsea at least £13.5million has been identified as a suitable partner with Kurt Zouma who is currently having a good time with veteran defender Thiago Silva.

Thiago Silva is 36-years-old and the Blues are planning for life after the former Paris Saint-Germain defender who is still playing at his highest level.

Despite spending over quarter of a million pounds on new players in the summer transfer window, Chelsea find themselves in sixth place with just one victory from their last five matches.
