Chelsea determined to agree deal for in-demand defender valued at €40m

Brighton & Hove Albion centre-back Ben White is reportedly being monitored by Premier League heavyweights Chelsea Manchester United and Liverpool.

The 23-year-old played a vital role for Leeds United during their triumphant 2019-20 Championship season, and White has quickly established himself as a starter in the Brighton defence since making a return to his parent club.

While the Seagulls’ results do not make for good reading, the 23-year-old defender has been a standout performer for Graham Potter’s team and has been rumoured with a move to Liverpool in the past with Jurgen Klopp had identified him as a perfect defensive partner to Virgil van Dijk.

Now, Sky Sports News claims that direct Premier League rivals, Chelsea and Man Utd are also keeping tabs on the Englishman’s progress, with the trio all potentially searching for defensive reinforcements in the near future.

The report also claims that the Merseyside Reds will consider signing a new centre-back in the Winter transfer window given the long-term injuries to Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, however, defending Premier League champions have no interest in a deal for White.

The ex-Leeds loanee is under deal at the Amex Stadium until the end of the 2023-24 season.
