Chelsea enter the battle to sign No.10 Brazilian forward

Chelsea are reportedly set to join the running for the transfer of Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar jr in the future after a summer of speculation.

The 27-year-old attacker notably ended up staying at Paris amid being so strongly linked with both Real Madrid and Barcelona for some time.

This is noted in a report from Don Balon that now reports on interest from Premier League giants in trying to snap up Neymar in the future, with Blues joining Man United and Man City as potential suitors. The Brazilian star was kept at PSG against his will, and this surely suggests Neymar could soon be linked with a big move away again.

London club have money saved up from selling Eden Hazard and due to them being banned from signing footballers over the summer, and they could now turn to an ambitious move for Brazil international to replace Eden Hazard.

Last season Neymar played 28 matches, scored 23 goals and provided 13 assists in all tournaments.

Unsurprisingly, the report states this would hinge on Chelsea qualifying for next campaign’s UCL, which does not look guaranteed by any means after a slow start under English coach. The Brazilian winger has contracted with the Parisians until 2022, and his release clause is around €200m.

He is a captain of the national team and also helped them to win the 2016 Summer Olympics gold medal.

While in the past London club might have been realistic contenders for Neymar JR, this looks less likely now, so the Red Devils and Citizens will hope they can stay ahead in the running.
