Chelsea have opened talks to seal £110million transfer as Bayern announcement opens door for early completion of deal?

Bayern Munich have opened the door for Chelsea to sign Philippe Coutinho by declining to pay a £110million option to buy the Barcelona playmaker.

But reports in the media over the past few days have claimed that Barcelona have offered Philippe Coutinho to the Chelsea ahead of the summer window, as the Spanish giants are keen to get rid of the Brazilian, who has not made the impact that many had hoped when he signed from Liverpool.

And reports have suggested that Chelsea have even opened up talks with the agent of Coutinho about a possible move to Stamford Bridge in the next few months.

Now they have been handed a fresh boost after Bayern came out over the past few days and told Chelsea that they will not be looking to activate the clause that is in the contract of Coutinho.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Der Spiegel: “The option expired and “we haven’t activated it. “Now we’re going to draw up squad planning internally (for next season) and we’ll see if he still has a role to play with us or not.”

Chelsea have been constantly linked with a move for Coutinho during the summer window and many people simply do not know where he will end up. But if the reports are true and talks have been opened over a possible deal, then he could be a great signing.

There is a long way between now and the transfer window, so any possible deal will not be wrapped up anytime soon if Chelsea do manage to tempt him back to the Premier League.
