Chelsea makes ‘final decision’ on Giroud’s future at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud will be out of contract at the club this summer and the Frenchman is open to extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.

According to reports, Chelsea have opened talks with Olivier Giroud to discuss extending his stay at Stamford Bridge.

Journalist Nicolo Schira claims the 33-year-old is in discussions to secure a two-year deal but Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia will not extend beyond 12 months.

Schira tweeted: “Olivier Giroud’s agent (M.Manuello) have talked with Chelsea about the contract extend. French striker want 2 years, Marina Granovskaia would only give 1. Inter are looking, because Conte would like Giroud.”

It is not clear whether Giroud would accept a short-term offer with several clubs interested in signing him as a free agent in the summer.

Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan and Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur are among the clubs interested in the World Cup winner.
