Chelsea midfielder charged with drink-driving after road accident

Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater has been charged with drink driving after a crash in Cheshire late last night.

The former Leicester player was arrested in the “early hours” of Monday, says a report from the BBC.

Just last week, Drinkwater was one of a number of Chelsea players pictured leaving a club in London very late at night, looking pretty worse for wear.

This latest incident will only compound his problems.

He has been released on bail after being charged, and will appear in court on the 13th of May.

Drinkwater’s move to Chelsea in the summer of 2017 has proved to be a disaster, with the former Leicester man struggling for any minutes at all in the last year or so.

This latest incident will see him shuffled towards the door even faster. That £35m does not look like money well spent right now.
