Chelsea news: Eden Hazard contract truth revealed by Belgian journalist

CHELSEA have not offered Eden Hazard a new contract at the club yet.

That’s despite reports stating the Blues have put an improved deal in front of the winger.

But Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur has revealed Chelsea have not yet started negotiations.

He did admit Hazard told the Blues he wasn’t interested in contract talks at the end of last season.

Terreur tweeted: “Chelsea will at one point offer Eden Hazard a new deal and start contract talks, but they haven’t actually sat down as yet.

“Chelsea tried to open talks at the end of last year, but Hazard made it clear that he wasn’t eager to sign a new deal.”

Hazard admitted after the World Cup he would consider his future at Stamford Bridge amid interest from Real Madrid.

But the 27-year-old now admits he is happy to stay at the club.

“For the moment, I am happy,” said Hazard.

“I have two more years of contract and we will see what will happen.

“Leave this year? I will not leave. I’m fine here, we’ll see what happens in a year or two.”

Hazard came off the bench for Chelsea at the weekend in their 3-2 victory over Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

And the Belgian played a key role in the winning goal scored by Marcos Alonso.
