Reports linking Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio with a summer move to Chelsea are picking up pace in the Spanish press.
Asensio is one of the most naturally talented players that Los Blancos have on their books. However, they’re blessed with a plethora of options in attack, with Zinedine Zidane opting to look to alternative options last term, rather than granting Asensio a key role in the first-team squad.
The 22-year-old is good enough to start for 99% of teams in Europe, which appears to have landed him on the transfer radar of two English clubs. El Confidential report Liverpool are interested in signing him. The Reds have widely been considered the favourites to land the Spanish international.
Chelsea, though, are very much in the race to sign him. It’s thought that both the interested parties have been encouraged by Asensio’s reluctance to commit his future to Real Madrid. This situation is certainly one worth keeping an eye on as the summer develops.
