Chelsea ready to break bank for €90m-rated Germany international

Barcelona shot-stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen is reportedly interested in a possible transfer to London club in a bid to escape the Nou Camp. The 27-year-old goalkeeper has previously been linked with Blues, and it seems like these rumours are not going to die down as Chelsea continue to look in need of a new shot-stopper.

It’s been a tough campaign for Kepa Arrizabalaga, who recently lost his place in Frank Lampard’s starting line up, and Marc-Andre could undoubtedly be an upgrade.

Barcelona want to keep Ter Stegen amid an apparent falling out with Lionel Messi, and luckily for them, there aren’t too many teams chasing a big signing in goal at the moment.

The report does state, however, that Blues are an exception and that a move to London club could be of interest to Germany international. Still, another report has linked Blues with interest in signing Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, so it may be that the Italian will be a priority instead.

Blues supporters would surely take either footballer after Kepa’s struggles in Chelsea so far. The German goalkeeper is currently in negotiations with the club over an extension to his current deal, but little progress has been made. He has already turned down two proposals from the club and has particular demands.

The first demand is that Marc-Andre ter Stegen wants to be paid just shy of what the top earners at the club are currently making. However, he knows he won’t command that sort of pay packet, and wants to be paid just below Antoine Griezmann’s £305,000-per-week.
