“Chelsea sees a leader” in new signing they first pursued three years ago

Chelsea will welcome a new signing to the club at the end of June, when the agreed deal becomes official.

The Blues have signed Hakim Ziyech from Ajax for when the transfer window reopens, and he is a target they have been pursuing for three years, as per the players agent.

Mustapha Nakhli has been talking about his clients move to Chelsea, who sees Ziyech as a leader.

He said: “Chelsea sees a leader in Hakim too, they praised his personality. The first chat with Lampard and Hakim occurred over the phone in my office.”

There were also other clubs in the hunt to sign the attacking midfielder, but Chelsea won that race. Lampard spearheaded the deal but it looks like it was a collective agreement for Chelsea to try and sign the player, with him being a club target since way before Lampard was in charge.

Leadership is something this Chelsea team has really lacked over recent years since players like John Terry and Lampard himself left the team, so these words will be refreshing to hear for Chelsea fans.
