Chelsea set to activate arsenal and liverpool target’s €38m release clause

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to activate the release clause of AS Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas.

The Blues have seen the Stadio Olimpico as the ideal hunting ground of the past 12-months or so.

German international defender Antonio Rudiger was drafted in last summer, while left-back Emerson Palmieri arrived in the January transfer window.

Radja Nainggolan and Edin Dzeko have also been linked, but neither move ended up coming to fruition.

One player who may depart Rome in favour of a move to West London is Manolas, who has also been continually linked with us in recent years.

According to Football Italia, Chelsea have informed AS Roma of their willingness to pay Manolas’ €38M release clause.

The report claims that Chelsea will now sit down with Manolas’ representatives and attempt to convince him to move to SW6 this summer.

Arsenal and Liverpool have also been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, but Chelsea now appears to be the most likely destination.
