Chelsea set to miss out on signing €40,000-a-week Italian giants star

Chelsea have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Napoli full-back Elseid Hysaj, with the player’s representative revealing a clause that will prevent the London-based outfit from signing the Albanian star.

In an interview with Mario Giuffredi, the star’s agent, on Calcio Mercato, it has been revealed a clause was put in place between Chelsea and Napoli after the Blues signed Jorginho.

In it, a clause was written in that will stop the Blues from buying any more of Partenopei’s players, to stop Italian manager Maurizio Sarri raiding his old team.

In the interview, talking over a potential switch for the former Empoli player, Mario Giuffredi said:

“We’ll talk about it after the January market. This summer he could go to Chelsea, Sarri would have liked him, he has a 50 million clause, maybe Naples would have even accepted 40-45 million.”

“The negotiation has never taken off because De Laurentiis, to free Sarri, has imposed a clause that forbade Chelsea to take other players over Jorginho.”

Elseid has been a target for the west London giants, as they look to reinforce the defence.
