Chelsea set to offer €5m-a-year contract to €36m transfer target

Italian publication Corriere dello Sport have provided an update on Chelsea’s reported pursuit of AS Roma centre-back Kostas Manolas.

With Italian reports suggesting that Chelsea are close to striking a deal to sign Daniele Rugani from Juventus, it seems bizarre that we’re in the market for ANOTHER centre-back.

However, that appears to be the case, and the player who has landed themselves on Chelsea’s transfer radar is Greek international Manolas.

As per Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea have shown willingness to pay his €36M release clause in full, which would leave AS Roma powerless to stop him leaving.

It’s believed that Chelsea will offer Manolas €5M-a-year to move to Stamford Bridge, that works out at around €85K-a-week.

At 27-years-old, Manolas is at the peak of his powers. His arrival, along with Rugani, would surely spell the end of David Luiz and Gary Cahill at Chelsea.

What do you think, Blues? Would he be a worth addition?
