Chelsea may announce the transfer of RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner this weekend, it has been reported.
The Blues have triggered the forward’s £53million to £68million release clause, subject to a medical.
There have been issues with completing the formalities as Chelsea’s club doctors cannot fly over to Germany. If they do so they will be forced into a 14-day quarantine upon their arrival back into the UK.
But once they find a solution to that problem – which the Evening Standard claim could be this weekend – an announcement is expected.
Werner’s release clause expires on Monday but the player is thought to have already agreed personal terms with Frank Lampard’s side.
