Chelsea’s most likely opponents in pot two of the Champions League group stage draw

Chelsea are just days away from finding out who they will face in the group stage of the Champions League.

The draw takes place on Thursday August 29th at 5pm BST in Monaco.

Chelsea are in pot one for the draw, due to a 3rd place Premier League finish last season.

The Blues also won the Europa League, where they beat Arsenal in the final.

Ahead of Thursday’s draw Twitter account BayernForum have crunched the numbers by running 50millon simulations of the draw and worked out the probability of who each team in pot one and two could face in the group stage.

According to the account, Chelsea’s most likely group stage opponents are Atletico Madrid, with a probability of 15.61%, the least likely of possible opponents is Ajax (if they make it through to the group stage) with a likelihood of 13.08%.

Chelsea won the competition in 2012 and Blues fans will be watching the draw with intent with the hope that it is the start of another memorable Champions League journey.
