Confirmed: Chelsea midfielder finally signs new contract

Chelsea forgotten midfielder Marco van Ginkel has signed a new contract with the club.

His previous contract expires this summer but he has now signed a new one-year contract with the club.

His new deal takes his Chelsea career into its eighth season, although loan spells and injury have limited his appearances in our shirt.

The 27 year old midfielder signed from Vitesse in 2013 but injuries have limited his appearances for the Blues. He played four games in quick succession after joining Chelsea until a cruciate injury in his second month halted his progress.

He hasn’t played for the Blues since then, spending time on loan at AC Milan, Stoke City and PSV. He won two Dutch titles during his time on loan at PSV.

Van Ginkel hasn’t played competitive football in over a year since he underwent a knee surgery in July 2018.
