Deal On: Chelsea on the verge of signing another 6ft German international defender after Kai Havertz deal

Chelsea’s major weakness this season, is their leaky defence and Frank Lampard is ready to reinforce it as soon as possible.

However, The Blues have conceded the most amount of goals of any team inside the top half of the table and despite managing to qualify for the Champions League on the final day of the season, there is no doubt that Frank Lampard needs to improve his back line.

There is a lot of talk about changing the goalkeeper at the moment, but Chelsea would also do well to bring in another top class centre back.

A new name has entered the fray in that respect – Borussia Monchengladbach defender Matthias Ginter.

According to Sky Germany, Chelsea are one of the clubs interested in signing Matthias Ginter. The Blues have already signed his fellow German international Timo Werner, and they are close to signing another in Kai Havertz.

The 26-year old Ginter could now be pursued by Chelsea as well. He certainly fits the bill – 6ft 3in tall with a decent amount of international and domestic experience.
