Deal ongoing- Chelsea in talks over signing perfect pair for Jorginho

Chelsea are believed to be in talks with Russian side Zenit Saint Petersburg over a deal to sign Leandro Paredes.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Chelsea have identified both Paredes and Nicolo Barella as potential replacements for Cesc Fabregas.

The Spaniard is on the verge of joining Monaco, even giving a farewell speech to the rest of the squad after Chelsea’s FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

But Sarri counted on Fabregas – despite using him sparingly in the Premier League – and Correire dello Sport report that he has asked Marina Granovskaia to sign a replacement.

Paredes is a player who has been on Chelsea’s radar for some time.

The Argentinian international was linked with a move to London when he left Roma, but he opted to join the Russian side instead of a move to the Premier League.

The Argentine is seen as a better fit to rotate with Jorginho – the role Fabregas was fulfilling this season – and the Blues also feel his experience, particularly in the Champions League, makes him less of a gamble.
