Everton’s set to sign Chelsea defender for £75m before the transfer window ends

Everton’s set to sign Chelsea defender for £75m before the transfer window ends.

We shouldn’t really be surprised considering our academy and scouting department bring so much talent to the Premier League, but it’s still surprising to see three current and former Chelsea defenders locked in a transfer dance of death between two other clubs.

But that’s exactly what’s going on between Everton and Bournemouth right now, with the transfer window closing tomorrow night.

The Sun report that Everton, having lost Kurt Zouma as he returns to Stamford Bridge at the end of his loan, want former Chelsea player Nathan Ake as his replacement.

That’s all well and good, except that he’s going to cost them a bomb.

The same piece reports that he could cost £75m, with Harry Maguire having reset the bar for centre-back prices.

So what’s their alternative? Only a third Chelsea-related stopper. Fikayo Tomori, looking likely to head out on loan before tomorrow’s deadline, is another option for the Toffees, and certainly the one that would benefit us the most.
