Forget £80 million Rice deal Frank as £54 million Frenchman is the man Chelsea need

Forget £80 million Rice deal Frank as £54 million Frenchman is the man that Chelsea need.

Reports have claimed that Chelsea will reignite their interest in Declan Rice during the January window, but Dayot Upamecano is the man that they need to sign this transfer window.

Upamecano has firmly established himself as one of the very best centre-backs over in the Bundesliga over the past few seasons and his performances have led to rumours that he is coming to the Premier League

The defender has been linked with big-money moves to Chelsea for months now, But Frank Lampard has not been making any moves for Upamecano as he brought in the experienced Thiago Silva to help solve the issues at the back.

It is believed that the Blues are keen to try and make a move to try and bring Rice to the club, although is massive asking price is also an issues for the club as the board reportedly dont believe in his ability

But Chelsea do not need to add another midfielder to the side and will need to buy a replacement for Antonio Rudiger, who is seemingly set to leave the club, and Upamecano could be that man.

Look, Chelsea have just signed the brilliant Thiago Silva, that could be the best signing for the club this summer, But Upamecano is a player that is regarded as one of the very best in the business right now.

So if the Blues are looking for a defender that could play for the club for the four or five seasons, then spending £54 million on Upamecano would surely make them more solid and stop the need to splash the cash on Rice

As we said, Upamecano is one of the very best defenders in the game and the chance to sign him up for a small fee is an opportunity sides cannot miss out on.

Chelsea have already showed this season that that back-line will cost the club goals, so if there is a chance to sign Upamecano this season before his price tag rises, it would be the best move.

Rice is very good, but Upamecano should be the move that Lampard makes next.
