Forget Havertz as Lampard interested in signing speedy, skillfull £40 million bargain for Chelsea

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is reportedly ready to turn his attention to Kai Havertz’s Bayer Leverkusen team-mate Leon Bailey.

There has been alot of speculation in the media suggesting that Chelsea are willing to splash around £40 million in the summer to try and acquire the services of Bailey, who has become one of the most exciting wingers in the Bundesliga over the last few seasons.

Frank Lampard is keen to bolsters his squad at the end of the season and improve the side enough to get back challenging for that Premier League title, and also as a possible replacement for the likes of Willian and Pedro. who have been tipped to leave the club at the end of the season.

Reports have emerged indicating that Leverkusen want £90m for Havertz, who has also been linked with European giants Bayern Munich and Real Madrid, but Chelsea are believed to not be willing to match that asking price and are only prepared to pay up to £75m for Havertz.

And the Daily Mail have claimed Lampard is now interested exploring Bailey as an alternative signing, as the exciting winger will be a cheaper alternative to the German International.

Look, at the end of the Havertz is a brilliant young player that could be an incredible signing for Chelsea, but Bailey is also the type of player that will make an impact on the club and the fans.

However, with their attack adding both Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech to it for next season, where would this lad play if he was signed? The Blues already have an array of talented wingers.
