Forget Higuain, Chelsea prepare £50m bid to sign tough goal poacher

Chelsea are reportedly weighing up a bid for Austria ace Marko Arnautovic in the January transfer window.

According to reports from England, the Blues are considering moving for the West Ham forward as an alternative to Argentine forward Gonzalo Higuain.

Higuain remains the first choice option for the Blues, however, his current situation makes a January move very complicated. The forward is currently on loan at AC Milan from Juventus and this could make things quite complex.

Furthermore, AC Milan have little interest in signing Alvaro Morata, who has been mooted by media sources as a part of a swap deal involving Higuain.

Chelsea transfer chiefs are exploring several alternatives and Arnautovic is high on the list of possible replacements.

The Austrian forward has impressed for the Hammers after a position switch last season to the centre-forward position. He is reportedly valued at around £50million and has hit 4 goals in 14 appearances in what has been an injury-hit season.

Arnautovic is physically strong on the ball and capable of leading the line in the 4-3-3 formation favoured by Maurizio Sarri at Chelsea. The 29-year-old is also at the peak of his career and is a decent finisher with good aerial skills.
