The Blues have sold some good players not only in recent times, but in the past as well, and not many players are happy with the manner they have left the club.
Former Chelsea midfielder Alan Hudson who’s a true local has revealed his hurt at the manner he left the club, and the Blues hero is still disappointed with the manner he was sold by the club. Hudson played 189 games for the Blues and scored 14 goals during his time at the club between 1969 and 1974.
In 1971, Hudson was among the Chelsea squad that won the European Cup Winners’ Cup. He was eventually sold off to Stoke City for a then club record of £240,000 in January 1974. The 68-year-old wasn’t invited to the recent ’70s’ stars reunion, and he has revealed his disappointment at being left out by the club.
“I knew nothing about the recent 1970 Cup Winners reunion which was disappointing because those people running the club haven’t a clue about our spirit in the seventies,” the 68-year-old told CaughtOffside. “John Boyle was also snubbed, what a disgrace. My friend called me from the ground at half-time thinking I snubbed them but I knew nothing about it.
“The greatest disappointment is not being able to walk onto the pitch with three of my favourite people, Marvin Hinton, John Dempsey and Tommy Baldwin. This all goes back to 1974 when they sold me and Osgood, and they now they look at me as a leper.”
Hudson’s life took a terrific turn after an accident that nearly took his life in 1997, and the midfield hero became disabled and has since admitted his struggles as he is in financial troubles.
