Lampard gives worry update on Kante’s fitness ahead of Liverpool clash.
At the press conference before the UEFA Super Cup against Liverpool, Frank Lampard has revealed that N’Golo Kante has suffered another small injury in the Blues’ game at Old Trafford.
The French midfielder replaced Jorginho for the last 20 minutes of that game, as there had been concerns about his conditions.
Kante played for only the same amount of time during the whole pre-season and was continuing his recovery from a knee injury he picked up late last season.
Now, Frank Lampard and the club’s medical staff will have to decide whether N’Golo will be able to play in Istanbul.
“Kante was [not in starting XI vs United] purely because he had an injury,” the Chelsea manager said.
“I am very aware of how important he is. He picked up another small injury in the game, so we are assessing that.”
