Giroud or Abraham? Former Blues star reveals who Lampard should start against Leeds

According to former Chelsea star Craig Burley, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard should start Olivier Giroud ahead of Tammy Abraham for Chelsea’s Premier League game against Leeds on Saturday.

Giroud scored all of Chelsea’s goals as the Blues beat Sevilla 4-0 on Wednesday night.

Despite scoring four goals against Sevilla, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard refused to guarantee Giroud will start against Leeds on Saturday but former Blues midfielder Burley believes the World Cup winner deserves his place in the starting XI to face Marcelo Bielsa’s side at Stamford Bridge.

“Abraham’s done well, but the experience and quality and not just that the finishes that he produced tonight, I say Giroud at the weekend and I think he’s nailed it tonight,” Burley told ESPN FC.

Meanwhile, Lampard hinted Giroud could drop to the bench for the game against Leeds United despite scoring four goals against Sevilla.

Asked whether Giroud will start against Leeds, Lampard said: “We’ll have to see – it’s a tight turnaround but it’s four goals in a game.”
