Giroud sends ‘strong warning’ message to Leicester City

Olivier Giroud scored the winning goal in our 2-1 victory over Aston Villa on Sunday to ensure we move five points clear of Manchester United in fifth in the race for Champions League qualification.

While Giroud is happy with the gap between fourth placed Chelsea and fifth placed Manchester United, the Frenchman insists he has his eyes on third place.

Leicester City are third on the table, just three points ahead of Chelsea.

Giroud told Chelsea’s official website: “I just try to help the team, to give my best and today I’ve been lucky that Azpi made a cut-back.

“I was a bit unlucky on some crosses but in the end I’m very happy for the team, to score and win that game.

“It was very important for us because now there is a gap between us and the ones behind us. So we need to move forwards now and, maybe, why not the third place.”
