Good news? Chelsea Star admits, “I’m happy to stay at Stamford Bridge next season”

With so much speculation surrounding Chelsea lately over players and managers, one Chelsea star, Pedro, has come out and cleared up his future today.

‘I’m good here’

Speaking to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser Pedro stated,

“We know there might be some changes, we’re awaiting. We know that he (Slavisa Jokanovic) is a great manager,”

“Obviously I have a contract at Chelsea and most likely I will stay. I’m good here,”

“I’m very comfortable with my team-mates and, in football terms I’m very happy for having won the Premier League and the FA Cup in three years. I’m happy because it’s always difficult to win trophies in England.

“I’m enjoying my holidays right now, getting some rest and spending time with family, and then start the new season in the best way.”

So while the likes of Eden Hazard’s future is very much up in the air at Chelsea, it looks as though Pedro will be sticking around for at least one more season.

Experienced winger
Pedro began his career with Spanish giants Barcelona where he would play 321 games.

During his time at Barca Pedro would score 99 goals and earn 64 assists, as well as winning a host of trophies.

Pedro’s trophies at Barca included five La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey’s, four Supercopa de España’s, three Champions Leagues and three UEFA Super Cups.

Pedro would then move to Chelsea in August of 2015 for a fee in the region of £24.3 million.

Since arriving at Chelsea Pedro has made 131 appearances, scoring 28 and assisting 20.

The Spaniard has also helped Chelsea win the Premier League and most recently, the FA Cup.

Next Chelsea manager: Olivier Giroud discusses Laurent Blanc speculation

Olivier Giroud was brought to Chelsea by Antonio Conte.

But would he prefer to see the Italian replaced by Frenchman Laurent Blanc?

Blanc has been tipped as the next Blues boss, with the future of Conte still hanging in the balance.

Chelsea have been linked with a number of new managers this summer, with Conte following up a Premier League title winning campaign with a fifth-placed finish, although he did guide the side to the FA Cup.

The Italian is not expected to be at Stamford Bridge come the start of the new season, but Chelsea have not managed to tie down a new manager as yet.

Maurizio Sarri was thought to be the leading contender a couple of weeks ago, but former France boss Blanc has now emerged as the frontrunner.

But no announcement is imminent, leaving many to speculate about the future under Roman Abramovich.

The World Cup gives us the opportunity to speak to the players about what’s happening at our clubs and former Arsenal man Giroud was in front of the cameras this week.

The Frenchman was asked about the links with Blanc and is reported to have said:

“I do not know at all, I hear things being said, but as long as it’s speculation, we do not know, we’ll see.

“Blanc knows me, he trained me, but it is Antonio Conte who made me come to Chelsea. Antonio Conte is under contract, I do not and will not talk about a new coach.”
