GOOD NEWS: Marina to complete signing of player before Liverpool clash

Chelsea are set to complete our seventh major signing of the summer before Sunday’s Premier League game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have already welcomed Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Malang Sarr and Kai Havertz to the club in the current window, while teenage defender Xavier Mbuyamba has also joined from Barcelona to go into the academy.

Despite spending over £200million in this window, the Blues aren’t done yet with Edouard Mendy set to join the club.

According to the agent of the Rennes goalkeeper, Chelsea could complete the signing of Mendy before Sunday’s Premier League game against Liverpool.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Thursday evening: “Edouard Mendy agent just confirmed to Extra Time: ‘The deal with Chelsea is almost done. Only the formalization is remaining. It could be completed even on next hours’.

“The agreement has been reached by days. As Havertz, it’s just a matter of time then Mendy will join #CFC.” It is thought Mendy will cost around £20million once negotiations are concluded between Chelsea and Rennes.

Talks have been protracted with the French club keen to get a player in return, having asked for centre-back Fikayo Tomori on loan or striker Olivier Giroud.

But Mendy’s agent Djily Dieng has also declared that “the two parties have come to an agreement” and that once the “formalisation” is done, “the player himself will come to finalise everything, including having his medical examination”.
