CSKA Moscow midfielder and Russian World Cup hero Aleksandr Golovin has already signed a contract with Chelsea, according to Valery Gazzaev.
Gazzaev previously managed both CSKA and Russian. Though, not while Golovin was there. He’s incredibly talented, but wasn’t playing professional football when he was 12.
He is playing at 22, though, and despite his tender age, he’s carrying the expectations of his nation on his shoulders.
Heading into the tournament, Golovin was earmarked as the player most likely to make the difference for Russia. And he has.
His performances appear to have prompted Chelsea to move for him. It appears likely that he will be playing at Stamford Bridge come the start of next season.
Gazzaev is under the impression that the deal is already signed and sealed. He’s quoted by the Metro saying:
“As far as I know, he already signed a contract with Chelsea.”
We’ll have to wait and see whether the information he’s been provided with is accurate. In the mean time, cross your fingers and hope for the best.
