‘He really sent them into isolation’ — Blues legend hails Chelsea star

Chelsea youngster Billy Gilmour was the talk of the game in the goalless affair between England and Scotland last week.

Gilmour dominated the middle of the park and ended up being named as the Star of the Match following his fine performance against the Three Lions.

Gilmour will now miss Scotland’s final group game of the Euros having tested positive to Covid-19. Also, Chelsea duo Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell would also miss England’s game against Czech Republic as they have been forced to self-isolate having made contact with Gilmour.

Former Chelsea winger Damien Duff spoke highly of Gilmour’s and joked that he’s even sent two English players on isolation.

Speaking to RTE, Duff said: “We’ve tasted that with Ireland, negative tests but players are still sent home and miss caps and these two guys are potentially missing a very big game because of being a close contact.

“Listen, you wouldn’t wish Covid on anyone after what it’s done to the world, and I hope and I’m sure and by the sounds of things they are negative and they’re okay.

“But in the Scottish dressing room, I’m sure they’re having a giggle. Billy Gilmour’s dominated them on the pitch and now two days later he’s sent a couple of them into isolation, so you couldn’t make it up, really.”
