Huge blow for Lampard as £100 million transfer target prefers Bayern Munich move

According to Caught Offside, Chelsea have been handed a huge blow with transfer target Kai Havertz preferring a move to Bayern Munich.

Premier League rivals Liverpool, Man Utd and Tottenham were also keen on signing the 20 year old midfielder valued at around £100m by Bayer Leverkusen.

The German international, who has seven caps to his name, caught the attention of the biggest clubs in Europe after scoring 17 goals and providing 3 assists in the Bundesliga last season. This season, he has scored 6 goals and provided 5 assists in 22 Bundesliga games.

Chelsea will have an uphill task in trying to beat Bayern to his signature this summer.

Meanwhile, Havertz gave a hint late last year that he’s open to leaving Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.

“I think I’ve picked up enough international experience at Leverkusen. I know the rhythm of these international matches and I’m confident that I can go abroad at any moment and play at clubs outside of Germany,” Kai told Marca. “For the moment, I want to have a good season. Afterwards, we’ll see.”
