Liverpool manager recently took a dig at clubs spending massive money on transfers, as he referred to Chelsea and Manchester City as clubs owned by ‘oligarchs’ and ‘countries’.
Klopp insisted that it didn’t make any sense to spend so much money this period of uncertainty, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Chelsea have made six signings this summer and are still expected to sign a new goalkeeper ahead of the new season, whereas Liverpool have only signed a left-back in Kostas Tsimikas so far for a fee of £11.75 million.
For Tottenham, they have spent a combined £30m on Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Matt Doherty and Joe Hart, and Mourinho has now voiced his own opinion on the issue of clubs spending massive amounts of money on transfers.
Jose Mourinho said in his press conference on Friday: “The other day Jurgen was saying Liverpool wasn’t a club of oligarchs and a club that belongs to countries.
“We are the same. So we are not the kind of club that can go to the market and spend a fortune on players.
“We are all working hard, I want to make it very, very clear, to get good balance and that good balance would be to get one more striker.”
