Impressing German striker all set for Stamford Bridge with Lampard looking to seal Chelsea deal

Reports have suggested Chelsea could make a move this summer for promising Freiburg forward Luca Waldschmidt. However, There has been speculation in the media about possible incomings and out-goings in the summer transfer window, with a number of world class players linked with a move to the club and a number of fringe players linked with a move away, players like Giroud.

There was even speculation in the media that he was all set to leave Chelsea during the January window, but with the Blues unable to sign a new striker, and Abraham picking up a serious injury, it meant that Lampard needed the Frenchman to stay put until at least the end of the season.

However, reports recently have claimed that Giroud is all set to depart the club at the end of the season, as he has ‘already agreed personal terms’ to sign with Inter, and that means that Chelsea will surely step up their chase for Waldschmidt.

Waldschmidt, 23, has won two senior caps following his sensational performance in last year’s European Under-21 Championship in Italy, where he banged in seven goals in four games, and the locals were so impressed with the starlet they named him ‘Il Bomber’ in a nod to West Germany’s legend Gerd Muller, who was known as ‘Der Bomber

And The Daily Mail have now suggested that Chelsea will step up their chase to sign the gifted Bundesliga star. With a valuation around the £20-25m mark, the 23-year-old represents a genuine investment with his best years still yet to come, and although His goal return is nothing special right now, Lampard has been impressed having looked beyond the stats.

Abraham will be the main man at Chelsea for the next few seasons, hopefully, meaning that signing a big-named forward would scupper the great development of the lad and Chelsea just need someone to come in and help score the goals and be happy with playing second-fiddle, a young talent like Waldschmidt.

So it will be interesting to see how this all plays out once the season gets back under way, as the lad clearly has potential and there is a reason why Lampard has taken such a keen interest in trying to get a deal done. And btw, £20 million is not alot of money to spend on a new player these days is it?
