Is Lampard’s first season at Chelsea really a successful one? Read what former Blue man have to say

Frank Lampard had been named the manager at Chelsea last summer and so far the ex-player has done a pretty decent job to help the club remain with the big boys.

Lampard had a pretty strong season with Championship side Derby County last year but taking up the reigns at Stamford Bridge was no doubt a daunting task. And according to former Blues man Glenn Hoddle, he has done a pretty fine job so far.

He said, as quoted by Goal: “He only had one year at Derby and then took on a Chelsea job with all the extra pressure that comes with it. Frank’s a legend at the club as a player and that brings even more extra pressure on you.

“It’s all right having a view now, but take us back to the start of the season. “No one would have thought he would have done as well as he has done with such a big rebuilding project ahead of him and without any ability to move into the transfer market.

“You would have said he would do well to get Chelsea into the top six or even seven, under those circumstances. Sitting where he is now, I don’t think anyone would have anticipated that.

“Chelsea are in good hands, the way they are playing, the way Frank has brought on the young players, while he is learning all the time about management in the Premier League. Under all those considerations he is doing an amazing job.

“It was a shrewd move to bring in Jody Morris at Derby and then to take him with him to Chelsea. Together they are making the team stronger.”
