Joe Cole lavished praise on 22-year-old Chelsea winger

Joe Cole says Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic is one of the club’s most potent attackers as he can ‘do everything’ that is required from an attacker.

The American talent enjoyed an impressive debut campaign for the Blues in the 2019/20 campaign, registering 10 goals and 11 assists across all competitions. His progress was brought to a halt when the USA international pulled up with a hamstring injury in the FA Cup final defeat to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in August.

The 22-year-old former Borussia Dortmund ace was sidelined for an extended period and only returned to action earlier in October, coming on as a substitute in the 4-0 win against Crystal Palace.

Christian is now beginning to get back to his best and netted his first goal of the season in Chelsea’s impressive 4-0 win over Krasnodar on Wednesday night.

Calum Hudson-Odoi, Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner all got on the scoresheet as Frank Lampard’s side picked up their first win in the UCL group stages this season.

After the game, former Blues attacker Cole labelled Pulisic as one of their ‘most important’ attacking players.

‘This lad’s a real talent,’ Joe told BT Sport after the match. ‘It was a big miss not having him at the start of the season.

‘I would argue he’s one of the most important players in Chelsea’s attacking third because he can do everything, Pulisic. ‘He can dribble, run without the ball, he gets in and scores goals. Frank will be delighted.

‘He couldn’t have written the script better, all the front boys scoring, everyone involved, another clean sheet and it’s an impressive evening for the club.’
