Jorginho sets an ‘Incredible’ record after winning Euro 2020 final

After winning the Champions League with Chelsea, Jorginho took that same rich vein of form to his country games as he helped Italy become champions of Europe as they won the Euro 2020 in style.

The Chelsea midfielder dictated play in the middle of the park for Italy, and it wasn’t just his quality on the ball that was evident, his quality off the ball was also evident.

However, Jorginho set the record for the most interceptions ever made at a single Euro tournament, according to football stats by Opta and Squawka.

Jorginho’s 25 interceptions at Euro 2020 was one better than Marcel Desailly’s tally set at Euro 1996.

Jorginho played out his heart for the Azzurris in Euro 2020, and is now gaining grounds to be nominated for the Ballon d’Or award.

Meanwhile, speaking after Italy’s Euro 2020 success, Jorginho played down talks of a possible Ballon d’Or nomination as he admitted that he’s focused on celebrating the success of winning the championship with his teammates.
