Just in: Roman Abramovich receives ‘last’ Erling Haaland transfer warning

Just in: Roman Abramovich receives last Erling Haaland transfer message

According to former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has been warned Chelsea could miss out on signing Erling Haaland forever if the Blues fail to sign the Norwegian striker this summer.

Dortmund would want around £150million to sell the 20-year-old this summer but Haaland has a release clause in his contract of around half that amount that becomes active next summer.

Hislop believes Chelsea’s best chance of signing Haaland is this year, because of the lack of competition for the striker this summer.

“If you’re Chelsea, absolutely yes, you just keep pushing a little bit more, a little bit more, and continue to test Dortmund’s resolve,” Hislop told ESPN FC.

“Because if Haaland scores 30 goals a season, and you think he will, I see Chelsea being up alongside, really competing for the Premier League title.

“The other side of that same coin, you wait 12 months and he’s available for £75m – I’m not sure Chelsea are top of the list in terms of where Haaland goes.

“As a result, you need a striker to score you goals, how much is that going to cost you? Who is that? There aren’t that many, certainly anywhere near that class, available.”
