Juventus want to have option to buy Chelsea defender after loan transfer

According to reports, Juventus are allegedly looking to bring Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri to the Allianz Arena in a short-term deal.

The transfer would initially be a loan move, but the Italian giants are chasing a purchase option in the deal. Juve see Palmieri as a potential replacement for defender Mattia De Sciglio, according to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

De Sciglio was left out of his side’s 3-0 win over Sampdoria with head coach Andrea Pirlo preferring youngster Gianluca Frabotta.

But Gianluca is considered to be too inexperienced, and their other left-back Alex Sandro is still injured, so the club need a solution as soon as possible. Palmieri has fallen out of favour at the club in recent times and has been replaced in the team by new acquisition Ben Chilwell.

He joined them in January 2018 for a sum of £17.5 million from Roma but has since played just 55 times for Chelsea.

He was left out of Frank Lampard’s roster for Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Brighton and has played just two minutes of PL football since the lockdown began.

In spite of his lack of playing time, he is still a wanted man and has also caught the attention of West Ham United and Inter Milan.

It has been reported that Hammers chief David Moyes wants to sign him after the poor displays of Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku. Milan’s interest in Palmieri is long-standing, and they hoped to complete a permanent deal for the Italo-Brazilian last January.
