Karim Benzema blasts Oliver Giroud again

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has taken a swipe at Olivier Giroud, implying the Chelsea striker who replaced him in the France national team is an inferior player.

Benzema likened himself to an F1 car and compared Giroud with a go kart in an Instagram Live video.

After the video went viral, Benzema tried to justify his comments, but still took another dig at the Chelsea striker by insisting that what he said was the truth.

“Some people only took away things about Giroud and Formula 1 [from the live broadcast], but they didn’t remark what I said about what he’d brought to the French national team,” Benzema said in another video.

“They only focused on that, on what I said about Formula 1 and karting, but it’s what I think and it’s the truth.

“Look, if I was asked about R9 (Ronaldo Nazario), then he would be the Formula 1 and I would be the kart. Short and simple.”

Benzema hasn’t played for France since 2015 when France manager Didier Deschamps selected Giroud instead of the Real Madrid forward.

Benzema will probably be jealous to have seen Giroud as the main striker, as France reached the final of Euro 2016 and won the 2018 World Cup.
