Lampard ‘has the opportunity’ to land French superstar for less than £100 million for Chelsea

According to stunning reports, Chelsea have the opportunity to sign Raphael Varane for well below £100million.

Chelsea may have just spent over £230 million in he transfer kitty adding players to the squad that will give the club a boost this season, but there is still a need for Frank Lampard to add to his squad in the coming windows.

Thiago Silva has been brilliant since his move to the club in the transfer window and has made this Chelsea side very solid at the back, while Kurt Zouma is now showing the potential that many believed he had in his body.

However, Silva is not going to be at the club for the next four years, meaning that Lampard will need to add a more long-term solution to that back-line, and Varane has been a player that the club have been linked too for some time now.

But his high valuation has meant that a deal has been able to get done, and the fact that Madrid have had no desire to let him leave has meant that he has stayed put, despite all the transfer rumours over the years.

However, the Manchester Evening News claim Los Blancos would be open to selling the Frenchman in the coming transfer windows, and the Spaniards may even be open to the idea of letting him leave for less than £100 million.

Zinedine Zidane needs to freshen up the squad with some big time signings, but the COVID-19 outbreak is restricting the business of Madrid and they may need to sell in order to raise funds.

Look, Chelsea have a quality squad, but Lampard still needs to improve that defence, so the fact they could land Varane for less than a £100 million, they would be foolish not to make a move for the Frenchman.
